My Chronic Pain Origin Story

In Late January of 2013 I woke up with a sore throat, an ail that within a week would prove itself to be a life threatening viral illness. I would be taken to the hospital, locked in an isolation room, poked, prodded, given a medication that almost did kill me, given experimental treatment and eventually, released to go home.

“Whatever she has is probably under control and won’t kill her,” they told my parents. Over the next two weeks they were shown to be correct. My fever broke, my symptoms became milder, and I thought I was getting better. I was starting to feel normal again; I was getting excited to go back and finish my junior year of high school, and on top of that, I was gearing up for my most important summer of softball yet. Then came February 3rd: the day that changed my life forever. The day I woke up with the headache that would never go away.

I’ve spent 1,422 days in pain and I’ve somehow managed to get through every single one. I’m not an expert, but I sure can run with the big dogs. So whether you’re here just to feel like your not alone, because someone in your life is chronically ill, or you just wanna see what it’s like, buckle up, because that’s what this whole blog is for.
